HEALTH SCREENINGS AT SCHOOL
Here in the Health Office we provide screenings and services that support your child’s academic success by promoting health in the school setting. One way that we provide care for your child is by performing the health screenings required by the State of New York. During this school year, the following screenings will be completed at school:
Vision
Distance acuity for all newly entering students and students in Pre- K, Grades 1, 3, 5, 7, and 11.
Near acuity for all newly entering students and students in Pre-K, Grades 1, 3, 5, 7, and 11.
Color perception screening for all newly entering students.
Hearing
Hearing screening for all newly entering students and students in Pre-K, Grades 1, 3, 5, 7, and 11.
Scoliosis
Scoliosis (spinal curvature) screening for all boys in 9th grade and all girls in 5th and 7th grades.
Health Examination- REQUIRED NYS SCHOOL HEALTH EXAMINATION FORM
A physical examination including Body Mass Index (BMI) and Weight Status Category (WSC) information is required for all newly entering students and students in PreK or K, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, and 11th.
A letter will be sent home if there are any findings on the screening done at school that would cause concern or need follow–up. Please call the Health Office if you have any questions or concerns @ 363-2120.

HEAD LICE SCREENING
All children grades Pre-K-6th grade have been screened for head lice. The key to stopping the spread of head lice is early intervention. Please notify the health office @ 607-363-2120 if your child has head lice or nits present. Remind your children not to share hats and combs.
Vaccination Information
Children entering PreK, K, 6th, 7th, and 11th grade are due for mandatory vaccinations to attend school. These vaccinations need to be obtained prior to the 14th day of school each year.
