Join us this week with our "Masked Musician Weekly Competition". Day 3 Clue: This musician is married but has no children. She is NOT in the Rock and Roll Hall of Game. She loves to read and encourages others to read, too. She turned down an opportunity to have Elvis record one of her songs.
If we donāt use any emergency closings before Thursday, March 28th, school will be closed on Monday, April 8th.

Liam won the PreK PE Award for the month of March.
He won a certificate and three tickets to a hockey game. š
We have been seeing a lot of Strep Throat lately and wanted to remind everyone about signs and symptoms! If you are unsure, please take your child to the doctor to be tested to be safe! Treatment typically involves antibiotics and a few days out of school.
Join us this week with our "Masked Musician Weekly Competition". Day 1 Clue: This musician gets car sick, likes to eat pie, and enjoys fishing. They can play many instruments including guitar and saxophone. This musician keeps a quiet and private life.
No School - Staff Development Day
Learning to read music can improve your long-term VISUAL memory. Musicians who have been playing more than 15 years score higher on memory tests involving pictures.
Congratulations to Elizabeth for her outstanding writing, her story was selected as a winner piece in the Storyworks Magazine Oct/Nov 2023 Spy Contest.
Storyworks Magazine stated:
"Elizabeth's submission demonstrated a firm understanding of the text alongside the ability to craft a well-organized and engaging response. Of the hundreds of contest submissions we receive each month, we choose winning entries that show strong critical thinking, point of view and reading and writing skills. Storyworks contest winners demonstrate a commitment to excellence that reflects the quality of education you support as their teacher. We are elated to celebrate this achievement with you and Elizabeth!"
She received a Certificate recognizing her achievement and a book.
Monday, March 18th Harold Campus BOCES is closed. There will be no BOCES programming for CTE, Special Education, or Pathways students that day. AM and All Day BOCES students will be excused for the day but PM students are still expected to attend their morning classes at DCS
The SADD event that was scheduled for this evening (Friday 3/8/24) has been postponed. Date TBD

Music In Our Schools Month - Today's scientific fact: Music will slow the effects of aging. Even if musicians stop playing their instruments as they age, they perform better on memory and rapid mental processing tests than others who never played an instrument. The study found that musicians had to play at least 10 years to enjoy these effects. So, join band in middle school or begin private music lessons now!
Each day in March to celebrate Music In Our Schools Month, we will be
sharing an interesting scientific fact regarding how music impacts students and their
learning. Todayās fact is: Children who start studying music early in life learn languages more quickly. They develop more complex vocabularies, a better understanding of grammar, and have higher verbal IQs. If you have a younger sibling at home, sing to them every day!
